Why this game stood out.

Every game gets a Lineup score, and the score is explained. These are the three factors that moved tonight's top game the most. Pro shows all eleven.

Tonight's narrative

Every game gets a two-sentence read, grounded in the actual state of the season and rewritten as the game changes. Not "tune in tonight." Real context. Free includes a handful of reads a day, always with the top game. Pro opens every one.

You set the bar.

Casual, Balanced or Hardcore sets how high a game has to score to make your lineup. Set your own bar and we tell you when a game clears it, with a notification and a Live Activity that starts itself on your lock screen; weight the leagues and teams however you watch. Some nights that's ten games. Some nights it's two. Some nights it's zero, and that's the point.

The sports app with opinions.

The Lineup Is is a free iPhone app from The Lineup Is LLC. We rank every sports game by a Lineup score and tell you which are worth watching. Set your own bar and we tell you when a game clears it, with a notification and a Live Activity that starts itself on your lock screen; weight the leagues and teams however you watch. The score comes from eleven factors, and every game gets a read in plain English. We cover the NFL, college football, the NBA, WNBA and college basketball, MLB and college baseball, the NHL, the big soccer leagues and cups, Formula 1, NASCAR, IndyCar, ATP and WTA tennis, and the PGA and LPGA tours. See tonight's ranked slate or a league hub like the NBA lineup.

Every game, scored

Two hundred games on a busy Saturday. Each one gets a Lineup score from eleven factors, and the score keeps moving while the game is on. No editors, no hot takes: an algorithm with receipts.

Every score, explained

A two-sentence read for a game, grounded in the actual state of the season and rewritten as the game changes. You know why a game matters before you commit an evening to it.

Your bar, your lineup

Casual, Balanced or Hardcore. When a game clears your bar we tell you, and tonight's top game starts a Live Activity on your lock screen by itself. With Pro, set a custom bar, weight each league and start a Live Activity for any game.

Your teams

Up to three favourite teams, free. Their games always make the list, and you get an alert when one is starting, close, in overtime or final. Pro adds alerts for every game above your bar, and unlimited teams.

On your Home Screen, in Siri

Worth Watching and My Teams widgets for the Home and Lock Screen. Ask Siri what's worth watching tonight. Share tonight's lineup as an image.

Hide Scores

Watching later? Turn on Hide Scores and we keep scores off the app, your lock screen, notifications, widgets and Siri. Tap Show score on any game when you're ready.

Fair questions.

What is The Lineup Is?

A sports app for iPhone that ranks every game by how much it deserves your attention. It scores each game, ranks the day's slate, and tells you — in plain English — which ones are worth watching and why.

How does the Lineup score work?

Eleven factors score every game: team quality, the playoff race, how close the game is, rivalry, national TV, championship, momentum, history, star power, elimination and tournament. The base is team quality times closeness times stakes. Rivalry is a capped bonus on top, and star power only counts for much when the base is already strong, so a rivalry lifts a big game more than it rescues a dull one. The score has no ceiling, a huge game scores past 100, and it keeps moving during the game, so a comeback or an upset climbs the list. Every game shows its top three factors; Pro shows all eleven. See the full breakdown.

Which sports and leagues does it cover?

NFL and college football. NBA, WNBA, and men's and women's college basketball. MLB and college baseball. NHL. Soccer: the Premier League, Championship, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Primeira Liga, Eredivisie, MLS, NWSL, WSL and Liga MX with their domestic cups, the Champions, Europa and Conference Leagues, the Libertadores and the Leagues Cup, plus the Euros, Copa América, Gold Cup, Nations League and friendlies. Formula 1, NASCAR and IndyCar. ATP and WTA tennis. The PGA and LPGA tours. If it airs and it matters, we score it.

Why not just use ESPN or Apple Sports?

They show you everything — every game, every score, all at once. The Lineup Is does the opposite: it tells you which few games are actually worth your night, and why. It's a filter, not a firehose. Keep both; reach for us when you have one evening and forty games to choose from. More on how they fit together, or compare with Apple Sports, theScore and Sofascore.

Is The Lineup Is free?

Yes. Free gets every game ranked, the Casual, Balanced and Hardcore bars, tonight's top game in a Live Activity on the lock screen, up to three favourite teams with alerts when their games start, get close, go to overtime or end, widgets, Siri, Hide Scores, and a handful of reads a day that always include the top game. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the annual plan. It adds every game's read and all eleven factors, alerts for every game above your bar, Live Activities for any game you pick, a custom bar, league weights, and unlimited teams.

Does it hide scores?

Yes, when you ask it to. Turn on Hide Scores in Settings and we keep scores off the app, your lock screen, notifications, widgets and Siri. You still see the Lineup score and which games are worth watching, and a Show score button reveals any game everywhere. It's free and off by default: the app shows live scores unless you tell it not to.

Does it tell me when a game gets good?

Yes. For your teams, free: an alert when a game is starting, close, in overtime or final. For every game above your bar, with Pro. Tonight's top game also starts a Live Activity on your lock screen by itself, and with Pro you can start one for any game.

Is this a Thuuz replacement?

Yes. Thuuz rated games by excitement and went offline in February 2021. We do the same job for today's games: a score for every game, alerts when one gets close, and Hide Scores for watching later. More on Thuuz.

What do I need to run it?

An iPhone on iOS 18 or later.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Drop your email above and we'll tell you the moment there is.

Not every game deserves your attention. The Lineup Is tells you which ones do.
